Teacher Appreciation During Social Distancing

Teacher Appreciation During Social Distancing

The first full week of May is designated Teacher Appreciation across the country. It's a lovely time of the year to say 'thank you!' to our beloved teachers.

Spring of 2020 is proving to be a challenging time to share that gratitude in person, but I'm sharing a few fun ways to celebrate teacher appreciation during social distancing.

E-Cards to Send the Right Message

I have been sending e-cards since the dawn of Blue Mountain E-Cards back in the day!

Before Hallmark and American Greetings had online properties, there was Blue Mountain E-Cards to send these 'cool, new' virtual greetings.

With electronic greeting cards ubiquity, it's no longer novel, but e-cards are a welcome treat!

I researched Teacher Appreciation e-cards and did not find much to shout about, but I did find a few options to send our digital thanks.

Teacher Appreciation E-Cards

Hallmark | Leave it to Hallmark to be the gold standard for ecards for occasions other than the main ones in the calendar year. I love that they have a Teacher Appreciation section!

Paperless Post | I usually consider Paperless Post an invitation site, but thankful they have a lovely selection of thank you cards to send to beloved teachers of every kind.

Don't forget to send coaches, faith leaders, Scout Troop leaders and other mentors a Teacher Appreciation card.

Just Wink from American Greetings | This fun property called Just Wink from American Greetings is fun and festive. A great option to use when sending thanks to teacher this May.

Interactive and Video Greetings for Teachers

When possible, a personalized video communicating gratitude for all the care and support a teacher gives all year is best.

There are some adorable and entertaining options to share with your teachers.

JibJab | My extended family has been sending JibJabs to each other for years and they never get old! Absolutely hilarious dance routines done by YOU!

JibJab costs $2 per month, but I personally think it's well worth the money as these make fun cards to send all month and year long.

Smilebox | This sweet and sentimental way to say thank you lets you share photos and sentiments all in one.

The free Smilebox site offers 21 Thank You templates to choose from. It also features fun music!

Zoom | By now, we've all logged on to Zoom to visit with family, sit in on a work call or joined a virtual happy hour.

The Zoom platform is a great way to gather friends to give thanks to your teachers.

Consider setting up a Zoom call to share thanks and everyone say something they love about your teacher.

Zoom accounts are free for up to 40 minutes.

Smart Phone Videos | Invite classmates to share a video clip by email or text and collate into a video for teacher from all the kiddos.

If still photos are your preference, ask each classmate to send a digital photo of them holding up a sign of thanks to teacher.

Create a slideshow of each photo for a banner gift!
