Grandma's Stovetop Mac and Cheese Recipe

Grandma's Stovetop Mac and Cheese Recipe

There are lots of stovetop mac and cheese recipes out there, but my Grandma's stovetop mac and cheese recipe is easy, delicious and well, my favorite!

I learned this recipe from my mom (my kids' Grandma, hence the name) and am passing it on to my kids who love to add the pasta, cheese and help with all the stirring.

I wanted to share this with you to make at the end of a good day, bad day, busy day, or any day.

Add veggies like peas, broccoli or sautéed zucchini to green it up for your or the kids or you can absolutely enjoy as is.

Weeknight or Weekend Fare

This stovetop mac and cheese recipe is also a perfect party night recipe with your menu is geared toward an adult palate, but you want a tasty homemade kids dish to share.

The base and beauty of this stovetop mac and cheese is the roux, which if you haven't before, you have certainly made, which is simply combining flour with a fat - preferably butter - and adding liquid to create a sauce base.

When you master the roux recipe, use this for all kinds of yummy sauces for pasta, veggies and meat.

Another key to enjoying this stovetop mac and cheese recipe to its full potential is to take care with your noodles!

While I love an elbow macaroni, this recipe calls for rotini, which I think picks up exponentially more cheese sauce. And who doesn't want more cheese sauce? If that's a no, please don't answer!

I hope you'll try this easy 15 minute stovetop Mac and Cheese recipe that my mom taught me, I'm teaching my kids and you can do the same.

Bon appetit!
