I wanted to try the vegan style wax as opposed to beeswax, but either work wonderfully.
Perhaps you have beeswax in your craft bin from other projects so save some pennies and use that.
The three wax mixture ingredients are not cheap, but this recipe only requires 2 oz. of product so you can make a LOT of waxed food wraps with these materials.
Here's what you need!
- Kitchen or mailing scale to properly measure out ingredients
- Small bowl for ingredients
- 100% woven cotton (not knit) - Organic cotton is best although I used some fun quilting cotton to great result.
- Carnauba wax ($10) - I used this one
- Pine rosin ($8) - I used this one
- Jojoba oil ($10) - I used this one
- Pinking shears
- Double boiler - a container that can be heated in another pot with water
- Paint or wide craft brush to cover the cotton with the wax mixture. You may need to sacrifice a brush for this use alone as the wax dries pretty well throughout brush!
- Spatula to stir your wax mixture in your double boiler
- Cookie sheet
- Parchment paper
- Sharpie and glass containers to trace edge if you'd like to make custom sized waxed food wraps.

Next measure out and weigh your three ingreidents using a kitchen scale.
Add your wax ingredients to another vessel and place in your double boiler.
Pre-heat your oven to 250 degrees F for additional max melting after you've covered your cotton.
