15 Minute Deviled Eggs Recipe
Whether you're planning for a springtime or Easter brunch, or just want a delicious snack to share with family, my 15 minute deviled eggs recipe is the perfect dish to make.
Regardless of what classic ingredients you have on hand - mayo, sweet pickles, mustard and paprika - I'm sharing a variety of substitutions that will satisfy a deviled egg craving!

The Devil's in the Details - Recipe Substitutions
With potential limitations on grocery shopping this Easter brunch season, home chefs are asked to get creative.
I designed this recipe to be as flexible as you want to be with your flavors and ingredients.

Here are some substitution ideas below if needed.
Recipe Ingredient Substitution Ideas
Mayonnaise = plain yogurt, sour cream, creme fraiche, or some combination of the 3 or 4 ingredients, mashed avocado
Sweet Pickles = dill pickles, relish, celery, carrots, kohlrabi, cucumber - something fresh and crunchy
Pickle juice = apple cider vinegar, white vinegar, sherry vinegar - dash of white wine if serving to adults only!
Prepared Dijon mustard = yellow mustard, dried mustard mixed with a little water to make a paste, curry powder
Paprika = chili powder, Old Bay seasoning, Lawry's Seasoned Salt, herbs de Provence, your favorite savory spice
 

- 7 Large or Jumbo Eggs (use yolks of 7, whites of 6)
 - 3 TBS Mayo or substitution above
 - 2 TBS chopped sweet pickles
 - 1 tsp pickle juice
 - 1 tsp prepared Dijon mustard
 - 1/8 tsp salt
 - Pepper to taste - 4-5 grinds on the pepper mill
 - Garnish: paprika or other substituted spice as listed above and a leaf or sprig of parley or cilantro
 - Piping bag (optional)
 
- Hard boil eggs by placing them in a pot and covering with water.
 - Bring eggs to a boil.
 - Take eggs off heat and cover pot with lid.
 - Set timer for 12 minutes and prepare the mayo mixture (minus the egg yolks)
 - When eggs are finished cooking run them under ice cold water and drop ice into the pot to help cool faster.
 - Carefully peel eggs and slice in half lengthwise.
 - Pop out the yolks of 7 eggs into a mixing bowl.
 - Place whites of 6 eggs (12 halves) on a serving tray.
 - Give the 7th whites to the dog as a treat!
 - Combine yolks with mayo mixture and spoon into egg whites. Use a piping bag for ease if available.
 - Garnish, chill for as long as you can/want to wait and serve.
