DIY Tissue Paper Pom Pom Turkey Decoration

DIY Tissue Paper Pom Pom Turkey Decoration

Don't let last minute guests or chores jar you this Holiday. Whip up some quick decor for the oft forgotten kids' table and set a place for Tom Turkey this Thanksgiving. If you don't have an actual Kids Table this year, then don't despair and dress up your own Turkey Tissue Paper Pom Pom with some jewels or a pipe to give Tom that extra je ne sais quoi.  I love a pom pom pouf particularly because they're so easy to make and they're large scale enough that you don't need a ton for a great visual impact. I think you can get away with one sweet Tom Turkey Tissue Paper Pom Pom for Thanksgiving Kids Table or consider a few mini turkeys to round out the family.

Here's what you'll need to make a Quick Turkey Tissue Paper Pom Pom for Thanksgiving Kids Table:

  • 5 pieces each full size tissue paper in brown and orange
  • 3 brown pipe cleaners (or whatever you want your turkey feet to be: red, orange, purple!)
  • 1 piece brown construction paper
  • Turkey head template here
  • scissors
  • glue to glue head and feet to turkey
  • string to hang turkey
  • paper clip to test turkey head weight on pom pom
Here's how you'll make your Quick Turkey Tissue Paper Pom Pom for Thanksgiving Kids Table: Print the Turkey head template here Trace then cut your turkey head out Start by layering your tissue paper into alternating colors: brown, orange, brown, orange... Fold according style as seen in the photo tutorial here Cut points into each side of your paper and then cut small slits into each side making sure not to cut all the way through. Cuts should be about 1/4" to 1/2" long Use one pipe cleaner to secure the center leaving one end long to use for your hanging string Now begin gently pulling your layers apart to pouf your turkey out Make your turkey feet by cutting the remaining 2 pipe cleaners into three sections then twisting them together When you're head and feet are ready, gently glue them to your turkey. Note: You'll want to hang your turkey WITH the head paper-clipped on to see how it falls and then attach it permanently with glue. That's it! Now hang your Tom Turkey above the Kids table on Thanksgiving morning and enjoy! Have a festive and peaceful Thanksgiving! -jen turkey tissue paper pom pom from satsuma designs turkey tissue paper pom pom from satsuma designs
