Back to School season is a great time to celebrate new beginnings and special time with kids before they hit the books. This season, I'm carving out some one-on-one time with my little scholar for some tasty treats, great conversation and plenty of entertainment.
We're popping up Pop Secret Kettle Corn that's got amazing taste with better ingredients and inventive flavors. It's easy to celebrate with fun treats that are quick to make and share with family and friends! I find the perfectly sized 12 packs at Walmart to make movie night spontaneous too when there's always something to share at hand.
And over snacks we're catching up on one of our favorite shows called Spirit Riding Free. The newest season 6 just began August 17th on Netflix, so we're ready to hit the trail to the family room and enjoy!
About Spirit Riding Free
If Spirit Riding Free is new to you, it's a great family-friendly show for kids.
Set in 19th century small town Texas, Spirit Riding Free follows the adventures of a 12-year-old girl named Lucky who has recently relocated from the city and encounters a wild kiger mustang named Spirit.
As Spirit is 'broken' by wranglers, Lucky bonds with the stallion and frees him. When Spirit and Lucky set out to pursue adventure, she meets more horse-loving friends, Pru and Abigail. The show follows their everyday and daring adventures across the prairies!

Between episodes of Spirit Riding Free, we'll have time to talk about what lies ahead in the school year. We all love adventure, but getting used to new routines, classrooms and friends can be daunting.
When I feel a bit unsure, I like to write my thoughts down and plan for the unexpected. I've created an easy to use and fun to share weekly schedule planner for adventurous little spirits and you!
Back To School Spirit Weekly Planner
It's easy to create your own weekly planners to help make the transition to school a smooth one. Simply print the following PDF file onto white copy paper and enjoy time spent with your little adventurous spirit mapping out the days ahead!
Keep a pen or pencil next to your schedule so your student can check off all she's accomplished during the day. As the week fills up, she'll see how much she has accomplished and any holes gently show where she might put some effort.
Have fun together plotting goals on the right hand side of the sheet. And at week's end, check in to find out what's new in her life. These moments spent sharing are what will build her confidence to try new things and help her spirit grow.
