We are so excited that our hometown college team is headed to a bowl game this post-season and we are celebrating by hosting our own bowl game fiesta. It's fun to host a 'warm weather' party in the middle of winter and decorate with color while serving zesty recipes for all our fans.
The first step in my bowl game fiesta is planning is to tackle decor. Bright colors, fun textures and lots of party flair is the name of this game!
I hang a fiesta banner, top my table with a green football field tablecloth that I found for a great price. I pile my finger foods and nibbles into colorful bowls and bins with a football theme.
Football Game Day Fiesta Food
Food and drinks are my next step. I thought it would be fun to carry the 'bowl' theme into my fiesta so I'm serving a make your own tostada bowl buffet with all the fixings.
I love to host a 'make your own' buffet as both kids and adults alike can always find something that they like to eat.
Along with the make your own tostada bowl buffet, I'm serving my fan favorite zesty chorizo dip with classic fiesta fare of tortilla chips and adding my healthy cucumber 'chips.'
The tostada bowl buffet starts with seasoned ground beef and gets topped with all the fixings. I start with RO*TEL diced tomatoes and green chilies and pile on black and pinto beans, cheese, lettuce, sour cream and avocado. For the adults, lime wedges and cilantro make the perfect garnish!

RO*TEL for the Win
I use RO*TEL diced tomatoes and green chilies in so many of my recipes from Mexican food and taco night to Italian and great traditional comfort food.
For my bowl game fiesta, I loaded up on RO*TEL original and mild to pull my menu together. Walmart has the best selection of the RO*TEL original, mild and hot varieties. Find them at your local Walmart.
I'm serving my fan favorite zesty chorizo dip that I'll serve with crunchy tortilla chips and lighter cucumber slices.
Zesty Chorizo Dip
My zesty and cheesy chorizo dip is the perfect game day dish. Cook this up and bring to your next tailgate. Try this dip rolled up in a tortilla and baked to a crisp!
- 2 cans RO*TEL Original diced tomatoes and green chilis
- 1 lb Chorizo sausage
- 8 oz Cream cheese
- 1 medium chopped Onion
- 1 tsp Ground cumin
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Ground coriander
- 1 c Shredded Mexican cheese blend
Football Fiesta Punch
I love to create a custom punch for any party that's non-alcoholic so great for fans of every age. I start by blending frozen strawberries with a can of frozen lemon-lime juice. I add a bottle of sparkling water and garnish with lime wedges.

Fiesta Flair
No bowl game fiesta is complete without the extra touches that make game day a special one. I've created menu cards and toppers to use throughout your fiesta buffet. I loved using Xs and Ox to create a traditional Mexican lace motif.
I've customized two for my zesty chorizo dip and fiesta punch and have included three colors to mix and match for your specific needs.
These colorful football dessert and appetizer toppers are super fun for game day and sports themed birthdays! Use these appetizer toppers for all sorts of fiesta buffet fare.
Bowl Game Fiesta Printables
To make your own bowl game fiesta printables, simply print the PDF files below onto 65 lb. or 80 lb. white card stock.
Use scissors to cut out the shapes and banners. Glue a toothpick into the center of two small footballs to make toppers.
To make straw flair, cut two small slices in the top and bottom third of the football and slide onto the top of your straws.
