School Your Little Bunnies
My bunnies have been working on math facts in school since I can remember. I try to make this daily activity fun by creating my own math facts games.
This time, I created a Bunny Hop Math Game that invites players to practice their math facts as they work to reach the garden full of carrots!
By including addition and subtraction, I have board games ready for a variety of math readiness.
Game Play
I use jumbo sized cotton balls to start game play. Each player begins play on a math facts row and answers the math problem in the first rectangular box.
To make my little cotton ball bunnies, I cut out a bunny shaped head with ears - floppy or not! - and glue a jumbo sized cotton ball onto the back.
If the math problem is completed correctly the first time, the player advances to the next box. If a player needs to try again, simply work on the math problem and take all the time you need.
Enjoy the Journey and the Destination
Working on math facts helps young students create patterns of math understanding. Using these board games and other tools, something as simple as paper and pencil, helps them to memorize the number combinations that will serve them in higher math.
I always have paper and pencil on hand so that as the little scholars are learning the number combinations they can practice writing the numbers and math facts as well.
Reach the Veggie Patch
When game play is nearly done, we're all excited for the prize! Using Goldfish crackers makes the game and the reward extra fun. Discover lots more ways to have fun with Goldfish crackers here!
