DIY Drumstick Ice Cream Cones
DIY Drumstick Ice Cream Cones
Growing up, Drumstick ice cream cones were the frosty treat of choice through the summer. As an adult, I don't restrict my drumstick enjoyment to one season!
I'm sharing my DIY drumstick ice cream cones recipe so you too can enjoy these all year.
The original drumsticks came packaged in a paper cone that went all the way to the top of the ice cream so that when you pulled the little paper tab off the top you were met with crunch peanuts and chocolate topping.
I wanted to have share the same experience with my drumsticks so have wrapped them in parchment paper and secured them with a little baker's twine. The experience of digging in is as fun as the taste!

DIY Drumstick Ice Cream Cones
Ingredients
- Your favorite vanilla ice cream. We love Dreyers Natural Vanilla
- Sugar cones
- 1-2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or Magic Shell
- Caramel sauce
- Chopped nuts
Tools
- Ice cream scoop
- Chopstick
- Parchment paper
- Baker's Twine
- Something to hold your cones upright. Eg: upside down egg carton with a hole in each cell or a small container with rice or beans to hold the cones upright. See my photos for an example.
How To
Start by melting your chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler.
Now, drop some melted chocolate into each of your cones and use a steak knife (with a nice pointed end) to swirl the chocolate around the inside of the cone.
Freeze your cones to harden the chocolate.
Next, add a couple of small scoops of ice cream to your cones until it reaches the top.
Use your chopstick to make a hole down the center of your cone and drizzle caramel sauce into the hole.
Top your cone with melted chocolate, add nuts, wrap in parchment and freeze to set.
Wait a few hours, then enjoy!
