It's always in season to celebrate with sustainability in mind and summer's a great time to host an eco-chic and cheerful birthday party. That's what we did this July in the sometimes sunny Pacific Northwest!
Join me as I share some easy, affordable and colorful ways to host a chic and cheerful party.
Stylish Sustainability
As a certified sustainable event planner, I make efforts to create eco-friendly elements throughout my party planning. From invitations and party favors, to decor, refreshments and waste management, sustainability is top of mind.
Here are a few ways I weave in eco-friendly elements to my parties.
Serve beverages in large scale dispensers to cut down on individual can and bottle waste.
Use recyclable and recycled serving-ware.
Reuse candles for birthday cakes - my family doesn't love this one!
Create or purchase durable decor that can be used on other occasions. In the tissue paper tassel garland you see here, I'll use the red and orange tassels for Thanksgiving decorating and afternoon tea parties with friends and neighbors.
Invite guests to separate trash from recyclables.
We hosted the party out doors in the heart of summer to economize on air conditioning and enjoy nature's beauty!
It's easy to keep guests comfortable in the shade. If your space doesn't have ready made shade, make your own with a tarp and twine.
Decorate with natural elements. Fresh cut flowers with daily water changes will last or pepper your table with plants potted in brightly colored pots.
