Mini Confetti Balloon Cake Toppers
Materials
- 5" round clear latex balloons
- Funnel
- Chopstick or pencil
- 1 TBS 1/2" or 1/4" tissue paper circles - for easy confetti making, use a 1/2" or 1/4" diameter paper punch. Layer up to 12 pieces of tissue paper together and add a piece of card stock to the pile. Then punch away! The card stock give some meat to the cut and makes a nice clean edge on the tissue paper.
- Balloon hand pump or electric balloon pump
- Cake pop sticks or paper straws
- Narrow, clear tape
- Tulle or ribbon
How To
Start by wrapping your balloon around the base of your funnel.
Next, add your tissue paper circles (confetti) to your balloon. Use your chopstick or eraser end of your pencil to push them through the funnel.
Gently roll your balloon off the funnel and fill with air.
Tie balloon closed.
Wrap balloon end around cake pop stick and secure with tape.
Add your tulle or ribbon to cover the balloon knot and tape. Add extra ribbon if needed.
Top your cake and enjoy!
Let's Stick Together!
If you've made confetti balloons of any size in the past you know the challenge of getting your tissue paper or foil confetti to stay on the surface of the balloon. A confetti balloon without confetti on the top and sides just isn't a confetti balloon!
To get your tissue paper and foil confetti to stick to the sides of your balloon, there's an easy fix. After you inflate your balloon with your hand or electric pump, rub the balloon on some fabric - pant leg, chair, etc. - that will create enough static electricity so that the lightweight confetti will stick to the balloon sides.
