How to Set a Thanksgiving Table Coloring Page
If you're hosting friends and family for Thanksgiving this year, wouldn't it be wonderful to make it the most relaxing holiday yet? Anything. Is. Possible.
One way I calm the chaos is to enlist my family's help with table setting. The printable I created on how to set a Thanksgiving table coloring page is a fun way to get the kids in the spirit and teach them at the same time!
The coloring page features happy little Thanksgiving icons that the kids will enjoy filling in with their favorite markers. It's festive, fun and practical!
I start by printing out a handful of these to use for the grownups table as well as our traditional holiday kids table.
I use these as place mats for the kids and deposit all the utensils, napkins and serving-ware that they'll need to set the table.
I also stock the kids' table with markers and colored pencils so they can enjoy themselves by coloring before and after the meal or if they're waiting for more rolls!
Depending on whether I'm using a table cloth or placemats, I roll a piece of kraft paper across each seat to protect fabric or table surface from markers.

It's fun to give the kids a little tutorial in advance of setting them off to set the table. I start by guiding them to the napkin and silverware that should be set first. Plates and glasses follow.
Hand the kids a ruler to see if they can estimate what an inch from the table edge is for the dinner plate. They'll love to use their math at Thanksgiving!
Holiday Hosting Hot Tips
There's no rule that says the hostess must also play the martyr when it comes to hosting Thanksgiving or any other holiday feast. Decide to enjoy the journey and take measures to keep yourself happy and balanced.
One measure I take is to set the dining room table at least one or two days in advance of your holiday feast. This is when my family can easily step up and help out. I have the time to encourage them and direct their efforts if necessary.
I generally like to design the centerpiece, but let the kids handle setting the table and making hand-crafted place cards for each guest. It is so touching when I spy family tucking those little hand written place cards into their pocket or purse to enjoy on their desk or refrigerator later.

To create your own coloring page and let your kids help set the family's Thanksgiving table, start by printing the file below onto white 8.5"x11" card stock or regular printing paper.
A special memento of the year is to have all the kids - friends, cousins, and siblings - color in their pages then laminate to enjoy through the years. Be sure to date each page and have the kids sign their name for posterity!
