I wanted the title of this many-worded post to properly convey my excitement for these tones! I hope you'll read along and discover inspiration for your own Thanksgiving table this year.
Thanksgiving is a season of gratitude for all that we have, not least of which is two very important birthdays in our family - our daughter and our mother.
As we host these special occasions, I loved designing a tablescape with a nod to the warmth we feel for each of these special people.
I had so much fun creating my rose gold, amber and yellow gold Thanksgiving tablescape and I'd like to share with you.
I set the table with my natural colored, traditional basketweave cloth. Using this American traditional fabric just feels like Thanksgiving to me!
Then I added my warm toned wooden cake stand that I highlighted with three ivory pillar candles and wrapped with my glitter dried leaves. I just love using the battery powered candles in all my designs. I never worry about flames and forgetting to blow them out!
My glitter leaves were so easy to make in an afternoon! I stared by collecting a basked full of leaves from the park and then pressed them between two pieces of paper towel.
Next, I placed my flour, sugar and oatmeal crocks on top of them for a few hours. These weighty vessels did the pressing job nicely.
I then brushed the front and back of each leaf with my favorite acrylic glitter glaze. I want to show you the product in case you want to add this to your crafting arsenal.
I left my glitter painted leaves to dry and went back to my tablescape installation.
Golden Mean
I've discovered a very handy ratio for designing tablescapes. I cover 50% of the length of my table and 25% of the width of the table with decor. That leaves plenty of room for place settings including glasses and bread plates.
Using this formula for a tablescape doesn't allow for too many food dishes to linger on the table, but bread and butter will easily fit!
With my proportions in check, I added some taper style candles in rose and yellow gold. I used my brass candle stick in a trio.
Next, I added some pretty ceramic gourds in rose gold, amber gold and yellow gold to the table.
I peppered the tablescape with my golden speckled tea light candle holders along with my favorite little turkey tea light holders that the kids made in school art class.
The look is enhanced by a sweet little squirrel salt and pepper shaker duo and a couple of Maple leaf trays filled with fresh fruit.
Pretty Golden Place Cards
You'll see these beautifully hand-painted place cards that I found over at My Wee Abode. Miss Julie at My Wee Abode has a beautiful aesthetic with a gift for art.
I easily downloaded this hand painted art file from her Printables Library. You'll need to sign up for free membership and you will love the perks!
Next, I pull the .jpg file that I had saved to my computer in a folder into PicMonkey where I do most of my visual and photo editing. I added my family names for place cards in the Meddon font using my favorite chocolate brown HEX Code 512d1a.
After printing on standard copy paper and trimming a bit, I was ready to assemble my place cards.
I slid my place cards into these golden frames that I found at my Dollar Tree store. They are usually available in gold and silver when I visit. I was tempted to paint these in a sparkle, but I held off! (this year anyway!)
Place Setting Prep
I paired my golden chargers with my wedding china that has a delicate golden edge. Each of the table settings were topped with an ivory linen napkin wrapped in wire fringed ribbon.
Using ribbon as a napkin ring is a fast and festive way to coordinate a tablescape!
I used the ribbon to enhance my hutch decor when I wrapped it through a trio of pumpkins and a pillar candle.
