May Your Garden Grow Mother's Day Window Garden
May Your Garden Grow Mother's Day Window Garden
As a mother myself it's fun to think about gifts that my own Mom and my Mom friends would enjoy. That's the inspiration for my May Your Garden Grow Mother's Day Window Garden project.
I loved designing a sweet gift tag and the little 'May' pun as Mother's Day lands on the second Sunday of May each year.
To make my gift tag, I included some of my original watercolors and created an unexpected round gift tag that's 2.25" in diameter.
At the risk of giving Mom a little task of both planting and tending her little window garden, I think it's a lovely way for a grandchild to help Grandma plant and water.
A phone call, text or email from a grandchild reminding Grandma to water her window garden is just about the sweetest call to receive, don't you think?
This gift idea is also lovely for women in your life who might not be biological mothers, but are as supportive and loving as a mother should be.
I love the idea of gifting these window gardens to all the special women in your life. It's an easy way to grow love and care in your community.
Window Garden Design
There are so many vessels to consider when designing your own Mother's Day window garden.
I chose a rustic looking tool box in a rectangular shape that I know will fit either on a deep window sill or on a table near the window.
The narrow footprint of my wooden box allows for a nice trio of plants.
You could choose a container for more or fewer plants in pots or one long container of soil for your seeds.
What Will Her Garden Grow?
I chose fast growing seeds that I knew would be pretty to look at and/or fragrant.
I included a handful of seed packets that Mom can choose from to plant.
Each of these packets includes lots of seeds that she can store or plant in containers on the deck as well.

Cut your gift tags to size or use a 2.5" punch.
Then use a small or standard size hole punch to create a hole to thread a ribbon to attach to your Mother's Day Window Garden basket.
