Print Your Own Greeting Card | Send Love Today!
Thank goodness for electronic means of communication during Covid-19.
We are all challenged to find ways to connect when we're asked to keep our distance from loved ones. Even hugs are hard to come by around our house!
Our family is definitely suffering from the anxiety that comes with this health crisis.
We have been working on taking steps to remedy the feeling of isolation and working with our church to reach out beyond our home's walls to connect with others.
To that end, I've created two versions of a greeting card that I hope you might use to send your best wishes to someone in your community.
The greeting sends best wishes for a happy day and peaceful heart. You can add your own message on the facing page or simply sign your name with a closing note.
Either way, your sentiments will be appreciated!
These cards make a great project for you and the kiddos to print, fold, color, sign and mail.
Spend as much time as you like decorating the cards. I hope you experience some calm as you carefully (or wildly!) color in the shapes.
Print Your Own Greeting Card
I made these greeting cards using an old classroom trick by designing to a folded piece of standard copy paper.
You could run a piece of any colored paper through your printer as well, but I find that a standard piece of copy paper works best to show off a variety of inks.
To make your own cards, simply click the PDF file below, download to your computer and print onto an 8.5"x11" of white copy paper.

DIY Greeting Card Supplies
You won't need much to get to work sending your love through the mail.
You will, however, need the following:
- Computer/Printer
- 8.5"x11" copy paper
- Small envelopes - approximately 5.5"x4.5" - I used left over envelopes (how does this happen?!) I had from another small scale card bundle I had on hand.
- Makers, colored pencils, water color paints, pastels, etc.
- Ink pen for addressing your cards' envelopes
- Stamp(s)
Design Your Own Greeting Card
If you'd like to design your own card using this method, go for it!
I made my cards in Adobe Illustrator, but you could easily use Microsoft Word, Publisher or PowerPoint.
Using a Portrait style layout, create two text boxes approximately 5.25" high by 4" wide.
One of these text boxes will go in the bottom right quadrant of your page.
The other text box should be placed in the upper left hand corner, UPSIDE DOWN.
This way, you'll fold your printed page in half, then half again and your copy will wind up right side up. Voila!
To add design elements - florals, leaves, doodles and more - simply use clip art or insert your own designs that you've scanned and downloaded to your desktop or another folder.
Print your page and you're ready to decorate and send.
Enjoy!
Other Ways to Connect During Covid-19
With a mandate to keep our distance from friends and family, for emotional health it's essential to find alternative ways to connect.
Here's what we're trying to keep the communication lines open:
- Scheduling FaceTime, Zoom or Google Hangout chats with friends, neighbors and family
- Sending silly riddles and jokes via text
- Forwarding funny YouTube videos - Have you seen this one of the BBC Guest Interview interrupted by his adorable children? Ellen breaks it down for us!
- Sending loving notes via snail mail, email and text
- Reaching out to old friends in areas hit hardest by Covid-19
- Calling friends, family, teachers, acquaintances to check in and make voice contact
What ways are you connecting? I'd love to know in Comments below.
Take good care and stay healthy!
