It seems we're constantly losing teeth at our house!
What a wonderful rite of passage for kids to place their sweet little teeth under their pillow in hopes of a visit from the tooth fairy.
I thought it would be fun to create a unique shark tooth fairy pillow to celebrate this exciting event in our kids' lives.
I was inspired by blogger at Creatively Beth and her adorable monster tooth fairy pillows.
Beth's colorful monster pillows combine easy to cut and sew felt, bright buttons and fun white teeth.
I pondered what other characters have sharp teeth and landed on sharks!
This project takes about an hour from start to finish and is worth every minute.
I encourage you to grab your little sharks and makes this shark tooth fairy pillow together.
Lots of felt cutting is easy on the hands and teaches dexterity at the same time.
I used plenty of hot glue to make it easy to assemble as well.
Shark Tooth Fairy Pillow Materials
There are only a few required materials for this shark tooth fairy pillow project.
You should feel free to play around with the color of your shark too in case you don't have this steel blue on hand.
I love the blue gray of the shark's body and the bright pink of his/her mouth!
- Shark tooth fairy pillow pattern templates (file links to download follow below)
- Felt sheets in the following colors: blue or gray, pink or red, white for teeth and black for eyes
- Embroidery floss in coordinating color for shark body
- Embroidery needle
- Sharp scissors to make felt cutting easy
- Glue gun
- Glue sticks
Shark Tooth Fairy Pillow Pattern Templates
The first step in making your own shark tooth fairy pillow is to download and print out my pattern sheets.
There are three pages of templates to lay on top of your felt sheets and cut.
Page three includes options for eyes and other characteristics that are optional and fun!

Shark Tooth Fairy Pillow Instructions
When you've printed out all three shark tooth fairy pillow pattern pages it's time to cut out your shapes including your shark teeth.
Start by placing the largest oval shape on your table top as your shark back.
Next, glue your shark teeth onto the top and bottom gray or blue pieces to create your shark's mouth.
You'll then glue your bottom and top rows of teeth onto your red or pink felt.
Make sure to do two things:
1. Glue your bottom row of teeth to align with the red/pink felt to create your tooth 'pocket'
2. Glue your top row of teeth to align when layered over your shark's back felt piece to line up in order to sew together.
Now that your front and back are created, glue your three fins onto the front piece of felt in the place that you like.
You can now start your blanket stitching around the perimeter of your shark.
PRO TIP: If you run into thick felt at the fins, simply sew the top layer of felt only and glue your pieces after stuffing your shark.
When you are nearly done sewing add polyfill stuffing to plump up your shark.
Finish your sewing to complete and tie off your embroidery floss.
