10 Minute Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts
10 Minute Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts
I don't care what holiday we're celebrating, there is always room on the buffet for some chocolate covered strawberries! My 10 minute chocolate covered strawberry ghosts are an adorable and delicious way to celebrate the Halloween holiday all season.
I serve these at our Halloween party and make a few batches throughout October when the local strawberry season is coming to a close. If you can't find fresh strawberries, try thawing whole frozen strawberries for the same tasty fun!
Do try these for any season and holiday. For Thanksgiving, dip berries in milk or dark chocolate and pair with little candy feathers to treat your turkeys. In springtime, try Easter strawbunnies like I did here.
Here's What You'll Need to Make Your Own 10 Minute Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts
- White chocolate melts - I used these.
- Fresh or thawed frozen strawberries, ideally with green tops still on - ghosts need hair!
- Deep and narrow microwave safe dish for melting chocolate
- Cookie sheet
- Parchment paper
- Black decorating gel to create ghost eyes and mouth. Substitute gel with chocolate chips or candy eyes if you prefer and have them on hand.
- Q-tips
- Towel to dry strawberries
Make Your Own 10 Minute Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts
Start by melting your white chocolate candy melts in the microwave for 30 second intervals until fully. melted. You'll want to use a deep dish or a coffee mug for this step so it's easy to fully dip your strawberries.
Next, gently rinse your strawberries and pat dry with a towel. Set aside.
Get your black decorating gel ready to make your eyes and mouth for each ghost. Have a few q-tips on hand for easy work when it's time to add eyes and mouths.
When your chocolate is fully melted, dip each strawberry in the candy and fully coat.
Lift up out of the bowl or mug and drag the bottom along your parchment paper just a bit to create the ghost's 'tail'.
Let these rest for 5 minutes to let the candy harden.
When the candy is hard, add a dollop of decorating gel to each ghost - three dollops in total - 2 eyes and 1 mouth. Elongate the mouth with your q-tip. I find it's much easier to control the gel volume and movement with a q-tip. I'm no pro with the little tube!
Display your ghosts on a plate or tray and enjoy!
