Holiday entertaining should be as easy as having a couple of friends over for dinner. Let my tried and true methods for keeping the holiday party madness at bay ease the season.
Follow along for 9 party pro tips for holiday entertaining. From the buffet to the bathroom, my easy tips will keep guests happy and the hostess glowing!
Simmer Scents
Choose a fragrance and diffuse that scent throughout a space. Simmer fruit, herbs and cinnamon sticks on a stove top, light a candle in the powder room and place an essential oil diffuser in the living room.
Merry Music Making
Delight guests with music in every room or at least nearly heard in every room. An affordable wireless speaker is a great choice to keep the mood festive when entertaining during the holidays.
On A Roll
Welcome guests with an offer to take their overcoat. Have a portable rolling coat rack at hand to allow guests to easily retrieve their coat upon departing. No more guest bedroom piles - like it or not!

Germ Warfare
Keep guests healthy and germ count down when you ope for disposable and compostable paper hand towels in the powder room. Pretty woven hand towels are wonderful for every other day, but party time calls for a germ-free option.
Silver Screen
To keep young guests occupied while parents spend time with other adults, screen a G or PG rated movie in an extra room. Serve plain popcorn and hit play to make kids' party time fun too!
Keep it Clean
Keep hands, faces and surfaces tidy when you offer plenty of dinner and cocktail napkins along with disposable wet wipes for sticky holiday fingers. Place a package of wipes in the powder room and next to napkins.
Display festive facial tissue containers by the front door and living room for easy access during stuffy nose season.
Cheers!
Create a beverage station apart from the buffet or dinner table. A designated drinks table or cart is a fun focal point and allows guests flexibility to help themselves. There's always fun chatter at the drinks cart too!
Wrap Up The Buffet
If you want an easy way to feed guests satisfying food, serve wraps in lots of flavors. Try classic ham ad cheese, but try homemade pesto with tomato and mozzarella for a caprese wrap.
These room temperature treats can be made in advance and are always tasty!
Flower Power
Often guests will arrive with a lovely bunch of cut flowers. Have a couple of vases on hand that have been filled with water and flower food. Remember pruners to snip stems under water and before arranging in a vase.
You'll have instant decor and honor the gift your guest gave you. That's a great host move!
And remember to clear space on a front hall table or other space for hostess gifts. You'll want hands free to welcome guests, hang coats and offer a glass of bubbly.
