Here's what you need to make your own 24 Carrot DIY Treat Bag:
- Orange fabric (I used a scrap of silk shantung from my fabric bin)
- Green felt (1/2 a sheet or scrap is fine)
- Green ribbon (I used 7/8" wide for a bulky looking bow, you do what you like, narrow ribbon is great too!)
- Safety pin to get the ribbon through the drawstring channel
- Scissors/Rotary blade
- Sewing machine
- Green thread
Here's what you'll need to do to make your own 24 Carrot DIY Treat Bag:
Start by setting up your sewing machine and work station.
Now cut your orange fabric using this template in the photo of materials. You'll note that the angle is approx 120 degrees (90 degrees is a right angle that's up and down).
Now cut your leaves from the green felt having fun shaping them. You'll want them looped so fold in half and trim as necessary and make little cuts to create the filly leaves of a carrot top.
Time to sew! First sew your ribbon channel at the top (rounded edge). Now you're going to sew your leaves to the inside of the carrot using the seam you just sewed as your guide to sew the leaves.
Make sure to use the seam as your guide so you don't sew the channel closed and make it difficult to thread your ribbon.
Thread your ribbon through. It's easier done now than after you sew your main seam.
Now turn right sides together and sew your seam along the carrot.
Finish as cleanly as you can and be sure NOT to sew your drawstring channel shut.
Turn right side out and voila! Enjoy this quick and easy treat bag that can be enlarged as a gift bag too! If using for a gift bag, you can make this larger with no trouble.
Use a wider ribbon for the drawstring and increase the size of each fabric component by at least 50%.
