DIY Burlap Stockings for Pets and Parents

DIY Burlap Stockings for Pets and Parents

If you have pets you know that four legged family members can make every day feel like Christmas. Their unbridled enthusiasm for you, family, food, the tree, lights, snow, visitors, and all of it are infectious and help make life a joy. You likely celebrate your own four legged pal each holiday, but do you give Santa a chance to dip into his sack for Sadie and Pup? Here's your chance.

Whip up this quick and easy burlap stocking for two and four-legged family members that will have all of you diving in to see what the big guy gave you.

Here's what you'll need

  • 1/2 yard burlap
  • paper template of paw and stocking
  • pom pom trim or other trim on hand. You could fold some gros grain ribbon into ruffles to finish.
  • embroidery floss
  • embroidery needle
  • gros grain ribbon
  • sewing machine
  • scissors
  • glue gun/glue

Here's what you'll do

Fire up your glue gun Lay out your burlap on some newspaper or craft pad for easy clean up. Cutting burlap ranks low on the cleaner DIY projects.

Place your template over the burlap and cut two layers Leaving 1/2" seam allowance embroider your paw nails onto one piece of burlap.

Place right sides together and ZIG ZAG stitch your layer together. The zig zag does a good job of holding the burlap together.

Be sure to work with your seam allowance to let your embroidery show. Turn your paw or stocking right side out. Be gentle here.

Now glue a ribbon loop to the top of the outer seam.

Finally glue your trim onto the top of your paw or stocking.

Hang on the mantle with removable tape/hooks Wait for Christmas morning and the tail wagging that will ensue!
