Whether or not your Halloween decorating runs to the scary and ghoulish or more harvest fare with a touch of spooky, my orange, black and gold Halloween tablescape has something for everyone.
It's easy to adjust this festive tablescape with accents that speak your kind of Halloween. What I love is the touch of gold and sparkle that brightens this table for guests and daily living.
To create my orange, black and gold Halloween tablescape I started where I usually do and pulled out my collection of seasonal decorations. After taking an inventory, I hit my favorite Dollar Tree store for a few more elements to complete the look.
After laying out one of my favorite autumn table cloths featuring an organic motif in gray, chocolate and gold, I added a base layer of black cotton mesh that reminds me so much of Pirates of the Caribbean. This tattered looking runner is just the thing to define my tablescape.
When designing my tablescapes for any party, holiday or workaday, I aim to fill in 50% of the length of my table and 25% of the width of my table. I call it my Tablescape Volume Equation because it always works visually. Try it on your next design and let me know what you think.
With my base layer in place, I added my wooden cake stand that I'm using to display a spider web open work bowl filled with Satsuma oranges and a battery operated pillar candle.
At each end I placed my little pumpkins' jack-o-lantern pinch pots that they each made a few years ago in art class. They are the sweetest with a little top that opens.
I love using the battery operated flicker candles in the pillar and tea light sizes because I can leave them on and not worry about leaving the room for safety.
To enhance my cake plate vignette, I added a few spooky spiders and some black silk roses for a sweet touch. Next, I moved to the larger pieces for the table. I scattered orange black and gold sparkle and metallic pumpkins down both sides of the center.
I added to sparkly black cats posed as if they just saw a black cat cross their path! Then I added five taper style candles in black scull bases. I love the height of these tapers that helps keep the entire tablescape interesting.
I added black leaves from the silk roses cluster to the top of my sparkly pumpkins. I easily removed the stem and then hot glued the leaves in place replacing the stem right on top for a clean finish.
The tapers are battery operated as well and easy to turn on and off with just a twist of the flame. I place these in our front windows too and light them at dusk throughout October.
I placed gold speckled tea light candle holders throughout the tablescape and filled those with battery operated flicker candles too. I sprinkled a few plastic spiders and black roses through the entire arrangement to finish.
Finally, I set the table with gold chargers and my white and gold dishware to complete the look. And lest anyone forget what season we're celebrating, I left a little message for my ghoulish guests.
I hope you'll have fun creating your own Halloween tablescape with some of these ideas I've shared. No matter what your design, enjoy the process and time with your beloved ghouls - young or old - this Halloween!
