The Halloween Boo Bag season snuck up on me this year! So with just a few craft and party supplies, I created this fast and easy sweet spider Halloween Boo Bag to send treats to our friends and neighbors.
If you're lucky like us to enjoy the Boo Bag tradition of friends dropping candy at ou door step under the cover of dark, you know it requires reciprocation!
We laughed this year as our new Ring doorbell with a handy camera didn't leave us wondering too hard who had Boo'd our house! Whether or not it's a surprise, we love sharing the fun.
Sharing is Sweet
This season I pulled out orange and white chevron print treat bags to fill with our favorite combination of chocolate and gummy candies.
Each Halloween our family is split down the middle on chocolate versus fruit candy as the champion treat. So we opt for familial peace and buy both!
We fill our Boo bags with a 50/50 split of classic chocolate favorites such as KitKat, Reese's, and Heath Bars with Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids.
Boo Bags to Go
To make my sweet spider design, I started with a friendly heart on the side of the bag about 1/3 of the way down from the top. I drew my heart with my favorite black Sharpie pen and from here, I drew 5 straight lines out from the heart.
I connected each line with a curved line to make my spider web. Then I drew a little web from a line's end to attach my spider.
My friendly spider is made with a simple circle or oval, 8 little legs and 2 eyes. And as she's so friendly, her word bubble came next with a 'Boo!'
After filling each bag with candy, I folded over the top making sure to align the chevron and securing with 2 pieces of washi tape.
Hitting the Road
Next, we hit the streets to share our bounty after a few doorbell ringing! We used our black plastic witch's cauldron with a handle to haul our treats around the neighborhood.
Using this dark cauldron is festive and coordinates with the dark outerwear we don to complete our mission.
I hope you'll try your own Boo Bag or use my easy to make sweet spider version. Either way, enjoy the season with your little bugs!
