Creating a stunning Easter tablescape needn't cost a fortune!
Springtime decorating is such a joy after a cold winter and I'm sharing some budget-friendly ways to bring some warmth to your Easter tablescape.
Discover how to best shop your local dollar store for bargains that can be transformed into chic and delightful decor.
Dollar Store Best Best for Seasonal and Holiday Decorating
Thankfully, dollar stores are wonderful at presenting seasonal merchandise in plenty of time to create your own unique designs.
It can be overwhelming to shop the aisles of your local dollar store with so many options.
Here are some ways that I optimize and economize on each dollar store shopping trip.
I try to balance my creativity with my budget and time as I have too often walked away with many more craft and design supplies than needed! Who feels me?!
Here are the ways that help me stick to budget and prioritize:
- Make a list. Never go to the dollar store without a plan!
- Take inventory of craft supplies BEFORE leaving the house. Check to make sure you have plenty of glue sticks, strong adhesive, fabric glue, spray paint, double sided tape and other crafting essentials. This way you won't end up with another 2-pack of tape you just don't need!
- Shop for essentials at the dollar store first. I always pick up a roll or two of gift wrap, gift bags and bows for gift giving. Get your 'work' out of the way at the beginning of your shopping trip.
- Shop for elements to create new designs. Your creativity for holiday decorating is a gift to your friends and family. Eye dollar store items through your own lens.
Ask yourself: can this be taken apart and enhanced to create something new?

Repurpose Seasonal Decor for Year-Round Decorating
Each month brings a new holiday to celebrate by decorating your home.
Thankfully, there are so many ways to reinvent current design items to reflect any season.
When I'm planning seasonal decor, I absolutely pull elements from the previous season and update with a few found goodies from the dollar store.
- Add potted plans to planters gathering dust in your garage.
- Use neutral colored pillar candles with abandon!
- Wide ribbon in seasonal colors can be combined and used for new decor.
- Convert baking dishes and servingware into centerpieces with flowers and greenery - fresh or faux.
Best Ways to Create Holiday Tablescapes
Use natural elements that are free of charge from the outdoors.
Layer plates by stacking chargers with dinner and salad plates for dimension.
Use different textures. Combine soft with hard and smooth with rough elements. Moss in wire baskets, plates on wooden chargers and pillar candles on rough hewn candle holders are all great options.
Move decorative elements around your space through the season. Tablescapes can double as sideboard and kitchen island decor.

Style A Festive Easter Tablescape
Start by setting your table cloth or center linens.
Next, add 1 or 3 medium to large size elements. I used these pretty blue wire cages as the base of my table scape, but you can use whatever you have found in your cupboards or at the dollar store.
Note the odd numbers 1 and 3. Design tenets suggest that the eye gravitates to odd numbers.
Next, add a few more odd numbered elements to your design area.
If in doubt, add candles in monochromatic tones. These will add warmth when lit to your tablescape.
