Every time we turn around this season there is some sparkly and bright bauble greeting and tempting us. Well our merry band of DIY/Do It Myself! elves took it upon ourselves to stir up some scented holiday cheer with these 5 minute cinnamon ornaments. We're calling them our Cinnaments and measured, mixed, and set to bake these quick and easy ornaments that make great tree trimmings, teacher gifts to pair with a coffee card or hand written note and spectacular gift toppers. We used a variety of heart shaped cookie cutters and free-handed some fun shapes of our own: footballs, hello kitty, bows...You can too!

Here's what you'll need to make your Kids Do it Myself! 5 Minute Cinnamon Ornaments:

  • 3/4 c unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 large bottle McCormick's cinnamon (4.12 oz)
  • small cookie cutters
  • skewer to make the ribbon hole
  • narrow ribbon or kitchen twine
  • parchment paper
  • plastic wrap
  • rolling pin
Here's how you'll make your Kids Do it Myself! 5 Minute Cinnamon Ornaments: Start by firing up the oven to a lukewarm 200 degrees F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper Combine applesauce with cinnamon (DO NOT EAT THIS DOUGH/BATTER) In batches roll out dough into 1/4" thick sheets between two pieces of plastic wrap and cut out shapes. Use your 'hole punch' to make a hole for the ribbon. Carefully transfer your ornaments to your parchment lined paper. We used a plastic spatula and used the base layer of plastic wrap to help us nudge the ornament onto the spatula and then gently slide or flip the ornament onto the cookie sheet. Bake ornaments for 2 to 2.5 hours, flipping after one hour. Cool on a wire rack. Thread ribbon, tie, and hang or embellish and have fun!5 minute cinnamon ornaments kids diy cinnamon ornaments
