How to make your own Tea for Valentine's Day gift giving

Start a few days ahead of time and dry out all of your herbs and fruits. If you're using stone fruit and juicier varieties, it's best to dehydrate the fruit in a dehydrator or a warm oven at 200 degrees for a few hours. Here's a great way to dehydrate fruit in the oven. Cut fruit into small pieces and add chunks of cinnamon stick to the mix. Hand mix the ingredients in your special blend by hand and add them to your tea bags. If using cheese cloth place the herbs and spices in the center of the cheese cloth, gather all four corners and cinch at the top with a small bit of bakers twine. Now cut hearts from your red card stock or red construction paper and glue two hearts together with the baker's twine end between them. Measure out 6-8" of twine and tie the loose end of the twine to the top of your tea bag to secure the tea and attach the paper heart to the tea bag. That's it! Now place 4-6 tea bags in a cute vessel like the shallow jewelry box shown here and label it with your custom blend. If you want to score extra cupid points you'll name the tea blend after your valentine. Try making these tea blends to enjoy fresh herbal tea any time:
  • Lemon-ginger
  • Orange-cinnamon
  • Peach-ginger
  • Mint
  • Lemon-Star Anise (licorice flavor)
