Grandma's Molasses Cookie Recipe

By far the family's favorite cookies! Let them become yours.
Ingredients
  • 3/4 c Crisco vegetable shortening
  • 1 1/2 c white sugar, divided 1 c and 1/2 c for rolling dough balls
  • 1/4 c molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c white flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Mix ingredients 1-4 in a stand mixer
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients
  4. Grandma's note: you may have to hand mix to finish
  5. Roll 1" balls of dough in sugar (1/2 cup)
  6. Bake 8-10 minutes until cookies have puffed and cracked all over the top
  7. Enjoy!
