Do you re-read the same page when you pick up your book like I do? Sadly, I am a master at re-reading to find my place on the page, but now I have a new plan! My always find your place book marks will easily solve this problem.
I was inspired to create this project for my kids who are thankfully doing a lot of reading these days often working on a couple of books at the same time.
They are as frustrated as I am when they lose their place on the page each time they pick up their book to read. I wanted to help them so devised an easy book mark design that will help them always find their place.

Always Find Your Place Book Marks Materials
- Ribbon that will wrap around your book lengthwise
- 1-2" of elastic - I used what I had on hand and you can too.
- Scissors
- Large paper clip
- Paper
- Pen
- Glue stick
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
Here's how to make your Always Find Your Place Book Marks
Start by taking your ribbon and wrapping it around the outside of your book lengthwise until the ends meet.
Now cut off approximately 2" from one end of the ribbon and replace with 1" of elastic. This math will mean that your elastic will stretch, but be long enough to fully wrap around your book.
Sew the elastic to both ends of your ribbon to create a loop.
Now, cut out a little arrow that is a little larger than the length and width of your paper clip.
Write a fun and helpful phrase such as 'start here', 'read on!' or other phrase to mark your link in the book.
Add glue to the bottom arrow and slide it into the middle of the paper clip.
Then add glue to the top arrow and place it on the bottom to make your arrow paper clip.
That's it! Now go pick up a good book and never worry about trying to finish the page when your eyelids get heavy and you're ready to sleep.
