If there's one thing I have a green thumb for it's kitchen herbs. My thumb runs light green so I'm always delighted when I'm able to harvest a bunch of fresh and fragrant mint and basil from my small container garden.

This super easy and fast mint and basil lemonade recipe is just the right beverage to enjoy on a lazy weekend afternoon or pair with harder ingredients to welcome guests to a warm weather cocktail party.

I'm going to share a variety of ways to enjoy this quick recipe that elevates lemonade with the bright flavors of summer.

The first step in whipping up this fast lemonade recipe is to gather your fresh ingredients.

Each May, I plant a small shallow and large diameter planter with a variety of kitchen herbs: basil, mint, chives, tarragon, dill.

I'll save my lavender and rosemary for their own containers as they are a hearty and like their own space!

Fresh, whole lemons are next. If you prefer, save this step and use high-quality bottled lemon juice for a fast and easy shortcut!

Simply Simple Syrup

The fresh herb sugar mixture comes together in minutes.

Combine a cup of sugar with a cup of water in a small saucepan and simmer until the sugar is dissolved.

When the mixture is clear, take off the heat and add your fresh herbs.

Let this steep like you would a fragrant tea bag for 10 minutes.

While your simple syrup is making its magic, juice your lemons.

Use this simple syrup recipe to make all sorts of combination with herbs and spices.

Try autumn simple syrups to add to cold weather cocktails and recipes.

Now, pour the lemon juice through a stainer into your pitcher.

Next, strain your sugar water into the pitcher, add ice, sparkling water and refrigerate for up to an hour.
